The European Commission has concluded its investigation and imposed anti-dumping duties on Chinese tyres (from 4.3% to 45.3%), but competition from Asia shows no sign of slowing. 📉 Polish and European hauliers are increasingly turning to cheaper alternatives from Thailand, Vietnam and India, looking for savings amid rising costs.
The key figures show the scale of the problem:
- 〽️ The market share of EU tyre manufacturers has fallen from 72% in 2018 to just 60.8% in 2025.
- 🛞 Imports from Thailand and Vietnam now account for nearly 61% of all imported lorry tyres.
- 💰 A new premium-class tyre costs around 2700 zł, while a budget version can be bought for around 900 zł.
- 📉 In Poland alone, sales of lorry tyres fell by 6% in the first half of the year.
The Tyres Europe organisation is calling on the European Commission to recognise tyres as a strategic component and to develop a definition of a locally manufactured product, in order to protect EU factories. 🏢
