On 1 February 2026, Poland's toll road network will undergo a massive transformation. In accordance with the amendment to the Council of Ministers' regulation, the e-TOLL system will be extended by approximately 645 km of new road sections. This means the total length of toll routes will reach as many as 5,869 km! If you manage a fleet of vehicles over 3.5 tonnes or buses, you must prepare for a new financial reality.
What exactly is changing in the system?
- Greater coverage: The new sections are mainly extensions of roads that are already subject to tolls.
- Higher rates: The cost per km will be strictly linked to the vehicle's EURO class and road type. For example, a vehicle over 12 tonnes with a EURO 2 standard will pay 1.07 zł/km on a motorway (currently 0.80 zł/km), while a vehicle with a EURO 5 standard will pay 0.56 zł/km (currently 0.42 zł/km).
- Who is affected: The obligation to pay electronic tolls continues to apply to heavy vehicles and buses with more than 9 seats.
Attention! The greatest risk for hauliers may prove to be the financial security deposit limit. The increase in rates means that existing funds in settlement accounts may be exhausted far more quickly. Remember: at the moment tolls reach 99% of your deposit, the deferred payment mode will be blocked, and the account will switch to prepaid mode with a balance of 0 zł. This could result in vehicles being brought to a sudden halt on the road.
