As many as 1234 transport companies in Poland ceased operating in Q1 of this year!

Poland's haulage industry, until now one of the pillars of our economy, has found itself in an exceptionally difficult position. Data released by the Association of International Road Hauliers (ZMPD) for the first quarter of 2026 is worrying – this short period saw the loss of as many businesses as disappeared from the market over the whole of last year. 📉

The main sources of the mounting problems are:
🌍 The international situation – alongside the ongoing difficulties linked to the war in Ukraine, tensions in the Middle East have become a challenge.
📉 Economic slowdown in Europe – weaker markets have translated into a visible drop in demand for haulage services.
⚖️ Growing competition – an oversupply of services has appeared on the market, meaning the number of available orders is smaller than the transport capacity of companies.

Hauliers are forced to fight for survival, often cutting service prices to the bare minimum. Hauliers' problems have been mounting for some time, and current market conditions are exceptionally tough. 🛑

Because of the falling number of orders and rising operating costs, many companies are reducing the number of their lorries. Keeping vehicles working continuously has become crucial, which is why orders are being carried out even for minimal profit. If the economic situation in Europe does not improve in the coming months, the number of companies going out of business could keep rising. 🚛💨
