Why is this change so significant? 👇
- Electric lorries sell very poorly — mainly due to their high purchase price (up to 250,000 euros more than diesels!).
- The toll exemption is a real incentive — in Germany it can deliver up to 40,000 euros in savings per year.
- Extending the exemptions is an attempt to rescue the transformation of transport towards electromobility.
But note! 🧐
The fact that the EU permits exemptions does not mean every country is obliged to introduce them. Case in point? Poland — it has not yet implemented such an exemption, and there is no indication it plans to do so in the near future.
What next? There is still a vote in the European Council ahead. If everything goes to plan, the new rules will come into force shortly.
